Nearly 112 million euros were taken in the first quarter of 2010 by the four Italian casinos representing a fall of approximately 6.8% compared to the 120 million euros taken last year. In March total takings were approximately 35.1 million, 13.1% down on the 40.4 million in March 2009.
Venice however remains the best performer with takings of 42.1 million, 7.6% less than the 45.6 taken in the first quarter last year; next comes Campione d’Italia which has taken 28.1 million euros in the three months, representing a fall of 21% on the 35.6 million in the first three months of 2009.
It should be noted however that the casino at Saint Vincent has not recorded such a disastrous fall, closing the first quarter of 2010 (22.9 million) with a slight fall of 3% on the same period of 2009 (23.6 million). The casino at Sanremo closes the list with first quarter takings of 18.7 million euros, 3.1% down on the 19.3 million in the first quarter of 2009.
As already anticipated, March 2010 has seen takings for the four national casinos totalling just over 35.1 million euros (13.1% less than the 40.4 million in March 2009). Again in March 2010 Venice dominates the list (approximately 14.2 million) which is a 10% fall on the figure for March 2009 which was over 15.8 million. A more significant loss was that recorded by Campione d’Italia which reported takings of 8.6 million in March, which is approximately 19% down on the 10.6 in March 2009. Next Saint Vincent, which closes practically in balance (reporting a slight fall of 0.3%) with takings of 7.2 million euros. Lastly, Sanremo, which in March 2009 took 6.8 million euros, i.e. 25% more than the 5.1 million this year.
