After years of co-location, the three national trade associations that own Fun Expo- IAAPA, AMOA and AAMA-have decided to shut the show down. The convention had lost money last March when commingled with the Amusement Expo in Las Vegas. As a 50% owner, IAAPA controlled the show’s destiny, and constant rumors circulated that the show would be discontinued.
However, Family Entertainment Center (FEC) is not dead. The three associations have announced that IAAPA will produce an FEC-focused seminar program for the 2011 Amusement Expo, which will run from March 1-3 in Las Vegas. IAAPA will also have a booth and will host a social event at the show.
The National Bulk Vendors Association (NBVA) will co-locate at the 2011 Amusement Expo in Las Vegas. The NBVA officers claim that March is the most requested time of year by members prior to the busy summer season. Another advantage is the ability to attend multiple shows for one registration fee-the simultaneous Amusement Expo and the International Pizza Expo dates are held at the same convention center. The NBVA exhibit area will have its own signage. The co-location agreement is for one year.
