Enada reflects continued growth of Italian gaming
Published:  22 October, 2010

The 38th Enada show at the Fiera de Roma welcomed 14,406 professional visitors, 7.7 percent more than in 2009. It was opened in the presence of Alberto Giorgetti, undersecretary of state responsible for gaming at the economic ministry, accompanied by the chairman of the trade association SAPAR, Raffaele Curcio, and the chairman of the show organiser Rimini Fiera, Lorenzo Cagnoni.

At the cutting of the tape, Giorgetti emphasised that “the world of gaming has grown a lot in recent years. The government has played its part in regulating amusements, an important element in public life, but it also wishes to protect the whole gaming industry. This show is fundamental for the value it brings to the Italian system, and the economic ministry is particularly close to this world.”

Covering more than 30,000 square metres, Enada hosted 200 companies belonging to the coin-op world: from slots to VLTs and video games, not forgetting pinball machines, billiards, table football and all the equipment for amusement arcades, including the latest technologies, furnishings and services for arcades and bingo halls. There was also a wide range of systems for online gaming, and examples of gaming offers from Web licensees.

Media coverage was extensive. Besides the valuable constant attention of the trade press, there was the imposing presence at the show of the national TV stations: TG1, TG3 Lazio, TG5, TG2 Costume&Società, Italia Uno, and RomaUno, the leading local broadcaster. In total there were 63 Italian and foreign journalists in the press room.

Enada 2010 was an opportunity for discussing the current topics in Italy’s gaming world, a sector with a constantly growing turnover. It is estimated takings in 2010 will be €60bn. The driving force is the new generation of slots, with takings of €22.5bn over the first nine months of the year (up 22.2 percent), representing 51.1 percent of total takings from gaming.

Another topic of interest at Enada was the arrival of VLTs on the gaming market. The new units could, according to the estimates for 2011 produced by MAG Consulenti Associati, provide takings of €18-19bn, reaching €27-29bn in 2012 and €30-32bn in 2013.

“This Enada event has met the targets set,” said Raffaele Curcio, chairman of SAPAR. “The show continues to grow and establish itself within the sector as the single international point of reference for the operators. For us in SAPAR the show has two fundamental objectives: to value the professionalism of a sector in which very many companies possessing great competence and innovation operate; and to encourage an ever greater membership of trade associations, in order to carry out together those actions necessary to protect our business activities. Both these objectives were achieved, the public were many, qualified and international. Enada makes a great contribution to the world of gaming and SAPAR is proud to play a role in this.”

Simone Castelli, a director of Rimini Fiera, agreed: “We are very satisfied with this year’s Enada. The event is a very useful way of monitoring technological developments and it provides the opportunity for operators to meet and compare their experiences. But above all the event is a business opportunity. This co-operation, a keynote of the 38th show, ensured the overall success of Enada, and we are very satisfied with the increase in foreign attendance in the exhibition halls, the result of the effort Rimini Fiera has put into relationships and investments in order to consolidate its role as undisputed exhibition leader for the world of gaming.”

“The feedback from the exhibitors has provided many positive comments about Enada 2010,” confirmed Gabriella Zoni, project manager for the event. “In addition to all the often-repeated aspects, I would add that the recipe for success is completed by the good feeling established among the organisers, associations and exhibitors. One detected a widespread positive atmosphere that generates optimism and translates into the warmth of the welcome given to the visitors.”

The next Enada event will be held at Rimini Fiera from 16 to 19 March 2011.
