Photo booths in American hotels are earning revenue from advertising displayed on their touchscreens as well as the usage charges paid by consumers.
The booths – supplied by hospitality specialist Send A Message but installed and maintained by Fujifilm – allow guests to transfer photos from digital cameras or memory sticks, create postcards, and then print them out, send them by email or upload them to a Fujifilm Website.
Omnivex digital-signage software, usually employed to operate networks of advertising or informational screens in public places, will be used to manage multiple installations.
“The software was invaluable for the success of this system because it allowed us to incorporate advertising space along with a touchscreen interface and the ability to print the postcards,” said Jim McNeal, president of Omnivex reseller Digisplay. “As this system is rolled out to more locations, the network-management functionality will be of paramount importance.”
Sites gone live so far include a Marriott hotel in Philadelphia and a Renaissance at Orlando’s SeaWorld.
