Brent Sales, the UK amusement-machine division of Namco Europe, says low running costs for a new photo booth will translate directly into a boost for the operator’s bottom line.
It has signed an exclusive distribution deal with Apple Industries in the U.S. to offer the booth, which can produce two colour-fast photo strips in as little as 20 seconds using a dye-sublimation printer.
Customers can choose colour or mono images, either with a plain background for uses such as passport applications, or adorned with novelty themes including frames, disguises and comedy effects. Face-recognition technology is used to correctly position the photo within these additional elements.
Brent commercial director John Brennan said: “Apple Industries boasts decades of photo-imaging expertise and has long been the number-one choice for a broad spectrum of U.S. amusements operators. There is no separate dongle charge on this new unit, which means lower overall running costs – all operators need do is replenish the ink and paper.”
