The combined Advantech-Innocore, which claims to now be the biggest PC supplier to the gaming industry, will next month launch two single-board computers at the ICE Totally Gaming expo in London.
Based on AMD and Intel technology, they are being offered to the developers of gaming machines, who can take advantage of features optimised for gaming to drive their systems.
The DPX-S415 and DPX-S425 boards, which are backwards-compatible with the existing DPX-S410, provide 3D acceleration, dual-core 64-bit CPUs and up to 8Gbyte system memory.
“We take great care to plan our products roadmap and time product releases to maximise performance and life cycle. The new DPX S Series products provide a quantum leap in performance over our existing products,” said Koen Stomph, Advantech-Innocore’s sales director.
The combined firm was formed recently with the acquisition of Britain’s Innocore – previously the object of a management buyout in 2006 – by Taiwan’s Advantech.
Among other Guinness-worthy stats, it boasts of a combined engineering and research-and-development team of more than 600 people. The company also has 67,000 square metres of manufacturing facilities at locations in mainland China and Taiwan.
