Cash-handling specialist Money Controls will use this month’s ICE Totally Gaming expo in London to demonstrate two new security technologies – high-resolution imaging of bank notes, and data encryption to thwart fraudsters targeting amusement machines at sites like arcades, motorway services and pubs.
The firm’s new Ardac Elite note validator displays an image of the last note inserted, either on the gaming machine or by a PDA connected to the validator’s USB port. Said Money Controls European sales director Tony Morrison: “Unlike traditional validators, Money Controls’ Ardac Elite takes a high-resolution image of the whole note. 100 percent note scanning by the Ardac Elite makes it much easier to identify note fraud, and the last note image display function can be used to easily resolve player disputes.”
The device is also now available with ccTalk DES encryption, a protocol launched by Money Controls last year to meet the needs of amusement venues that typically have much looser security than casinos. “Unlike existing encryption protocols, every payment device and machine can potentially have a different DES key, which can be changed by the host machine,” the firm says.
Money Controls, which is on stand #4050 at ICE, says it altogether has 150,000 note acceptors, 500,000 coin acceptors and 2m coin hoppers in use around the world.
