SNAI could this year be transformed into a leader among sports-betting companies, through a merger with Cogetech. Andrea Bonomi, president of Investindustrial, a company that (together with Palladio Finanziaria) acquired 50.68 percent of SNAI two weeks ago after 18 months of negotiations, has disclosed the plan to the daily newspaper Il Corriere della Sera.
After a merger with Cogetech – a company acquired in October 2009 – the SNAI brand would be retained.
The aim is for SNAI to become “the big one” in sports betting, and to be big in video lottery terminals (VLTs) as well. Online poker, bingo, gaming halls: these, too, are targets in the creation of a business much wider than racing and football betting. The merged SNAI-Cogetech would be competing with Sisal (run by Claudio Sposito di Clessidra) and Lottomatica (run by the duo Lorenzo Pellicioli and Marco Drago).
“We are committed to expanding the company and we are ready to keep going in the long term,” said Bonomi.
