Nigel Bond won the inaugural Caesarscasino.com Snooker Shoot-Out in Blackpool, defeating fellow Englishman Robert Milkins in the final.
The event introduced a new format for snooker which looked like a cross between American pool and snooker. Noisy crowds, sports shirts and a shot timer were some of the ideas added to speed up the game and encourage aggressive tactics.
Milkins managed to beat the red-hot favourite Ronnie O’Sullivan in the semis, but he could not repeat this in the last match of the tournament, with Bond achieving a comfortable win.
The 45-year-old collected the £32,000 winner’s prize in the one-frame format-event and chalked up his first tournament victory since 1997.
