Machine operator Gamestec is raising money for Weston Hospicecare, a charity based near its regional distribution centre in the Welsh town of Chepstow, by giving cash every time a specific truck is driven.
Following a lump-sum donation of £250 to the charity, which provides care for people with life-threatening illnesses, Danoptra-owned Gamestec will give it 1p for every mile that the truck travels.
The charity was selected by staff at the distribution centre, whose manager Rob Luckwell said: “My brother was recently diagnosed with cancer so I wanted to support a charity which would help cancer patients. I spoke to the team and one of my colleagues was really keen for us to support Weston Hospicecare due to the high level of care and support they offered a family member recently.
“The van we have chosen covers long distances so I hope it will raise plenty of money.”
Olly Joseph, a fund-raiser for the charity, added: “We think this a really innovative scheme, as not only will it raise valuable funds, but having the branded truck out on the roads will raise the profile of Weston Hospicecare.”
