As we went to press, the FER-Interazar gaming and amusements expo was opening in Madrid. Early observations from the show floor suggested a quieter-than-usual event, although attendance appeared to be picking up as it progressed.
The hall was dominated by a handful of large stands including those of Grupo Comatel, Novomatic, Ortiz Gaming, R. Franco and Sente.
Other well-known names present at the event included Aristocrat Technologies, Azkoyen, Comesterogroup, Egasa, Gigames, Global Zitro, MEI, Sleic, Suzo and Unidesa.
But only half a dozen of the 110-odd exhibitors were from outside Spain, confirming FER-Interazar’s role as a primarily domestic show.
Amusement machines, kiddie rides, vending and the like were well-represented, with the gambling element of the show comparatively low-key.
The spring date is a novelty for FER-Interazar, a 31-year-old event which in recent years has been held in September. In its new slot, it follows only weeks after the major Italian show Enada in Rimini, and just a couple of months after the concurrent ICE Totally Gaming and EAG Expo in London.
