The Italian government has identified video lotteries and online gaming as sectors that pose increasing threats to national economic interests.

In its report to parliament on information policy regarding security for the year 2010, the government highlighted how criminals have infiltrated our economic system, the dangers for Italian companies operating abroad and the channels used to transfer funds for the purpose of illegal activities.
