The second Amusement Expo in Las Vegas enjoyed a surge of buyers over its first show in 2010. The 1522 registered buyers represented a 47 percent increase from the 807 buyers last year. Exhibitor numbers also jumped 26 percent, with 135 companies reserving booth space, compared to 101 in 2010. There were 373 booths; last year the number was 306, an 18 percent rise. The total attendance of 3083 increased from 1894 in 2010.
The Amusement Expo is a combined trade show, put together from two separate, long-running seasonal events. The AMOA used to hold its show in the fall, while the American Amusement Machine Association (AAMA) ran its expo in the spring. This year, the blended convention ran from 1 to 3 March at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Another 300 attended because of a one-day reciprocal admission policy between Amusement Expo and the nearby Pizza Expo. A further co-operative effort was the three-day FEC educational programme presented by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA). The free Amusement Expo seminar program, featuring six sessions, attracted 415 registered attendees.
The 2012 Amusement Expo will be held 14-16 March at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Visit www.amusementexpo.org for updates.
