The £90m development would include a hotel, spa and multiplex cinema as well as bars, restaurants, conference facilities and a casino under Genting’s Resorts World brand. It will only go ahead, however, if Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council favours the partnership over Rank Group’s Grosvenor Casinos in the application for the single large casino licence it can issue. Sited between the LG Arena and the Crowne Plaza Hotel, the proposed NEC Group/Genting development could be open by late 2013.
