Players using an iPhone loaded with specialised software cleared out a slot machine, taking several thousand euro. But the manager of a bar in Castelnovo Monti, in the province of Reggio Emilia, became suspicious and called for the police to intervene.
Two Chinese men were arrested for fraud and their money has been seized, along with the iPhone used for the swindle.
Alerted by the bar manager, the policemen arrived at the location just as the two men were about to make off with two plastic bags full of coins and €50 notes. The suspect iPhone is being examined.
