The commercial magazine Impulse has brought the major family-run company Gauselmann under the spotlight. According to Impulse, the Gauselmann Group occupies 54th place in the top 100 strongest German family firms, with a productivity increase of 29 per cent between 1995 and 2005.
This is the result of a study carried out by the widely respected commercial magazine, supported by the Scientific College for Company Management in Vallendar and the Intes Academy for Family Companies. In this first comprehensive examination of the development of productivity, defined by per-capita sales, not only Gauselmann was successful. Other East-Westphalian companies also appeared in the rankings, such as Claas (8th), Dr. Oetker (27th) and Bertelsmann (76th). The study included an assessment of which family companies have increased their performance most strongly over the last 10 years, and considered how family-managed firms stand in comparison with anonymous, publicly owned joint-stock companies.
