Various administrative and tax regulations affecting the Spanish autonomous regions were published during 2009. The Gambling Tax for 2009 varied between Euros3,832,86 and Euros2,845.80 per machine/year.
In the next months a new regulation will be approved in autonomous region of Navarra concerning AWPs.
The principal characteristics of AWP in Spain are:
1. A 70% prize percentage.
2. Stake of the game up to three times 20 Euro cents.
3. Jackpot of up to 400 times the price of the game
4. Speed of game 360 games in 30 minutes
5. No return of change.
6. Acceptance of any technological support for the manufacture of the machines (VIDEO)
The Secretary General of the Department of the Interior of the Catalan Government, Joan Boada, and the person responsible for Gaming, Mercè Claramunt, recently presented the results of an initial study into the practice of Gaming in Catalonia which is based on the results of a survey.
The Study has been conducted using the results of a telephone survey of 2,380 people throughout Catalonia in an endeavour to analyse the customs and habits of those who play games of chance. In the study the practice of the 21 most important types of gaming in Catalonia was analysed, these included Lotería y Apuestas del Estado (LAE), Loterías de Cataluña, ONCE, amusement machines, bingo halls, casinos, family gambling, the Internet and other forms of gaming.
