When a part fails, is repair always the answer? One firm, E-Service, argues that it can also be an opportunity to upgrade. It offers 26-inch and 42-inch LCD replacement kits, designed to replace CRT monitors on older units.

“The new widescreen displays give old games a new and vivid look and the replacement unit is a similar cost to a repair charge on a 50-inch projector. For the price of a repair on an old screen, customers can buy a new screen that looks fantastic and will last for years,” the company says.

The screens come complete with bezel, brackets and mounting template, reducing installation time to just half an hour, according to E-Service.
