Outdoor advertising giant Clear Channel is finally deploying its long-awaited Socialite network of screens in pubs and bars, but on a much smaller scale than originally promised. Present in Revolution and Walkabout bars as well as independents, Socialite so far comprises 180 40-inch portrait-format screens in 165 venues.
An audience of around 650,000 weekly and a long average dwell time of one hour 45 minutes has already attracted advertisers including 20th Century Fox, Diageo, EMI, HTC and Sky, the company said.
With Socialite, Clear Channel is focusing on urban areas with populations of more than 150,000, including Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester as well as London.
But the network is significantly smaller than the thousand-venue rollout promised when Socialite was first announced more than three years ago.
