Europer is a Spanish business association that brings together most of the independent amusement-machine operators in Catalonia. Since its foundation in 1989 it has dedicated itself - in addition to defending the general interests of its members - to encouraging dialogue with the administrative bodies and collaborating with other Spanish business associations in the gaming and entertainment markets.
Presided over since 1991 by Alberto Maristany, Europer represents 100 small and medium-sized companies in the leisure and entertainment sector. Together, these have more than 13,000 machines of types A and B and employ nearly 1,000 people. The association also offers its members a number of services that differentiate it from similar Spanish bodies. For example, the company Seremop was founded in 1999 to act as a central purchaser, obtaining better prices and services from distributors and manufacturers for its members. Every other year, Europer organises a day to recognise the most outstanding professionals and firms within the sector, and to award its prestigious amusement prizes. In addition, each year Europer publishes the annual Reglas del Juego (Rules of Gaming), a respected technical study of the sector.
