The American Amusement Machine Association (AAMA), the national American trade association representing game makers, suppliers and distributors, celebrated the organisation’s 20th anniversary at its eighth annual distributor gala in August outside Chicago. The association’s membership previewed more than two dozen new products.
The 200 attendees included 19 exhibitors, including most of the nation’s major distributors, as well as leaders from the Amusement and Music Operators Association (AMOA) and the vending industry body NAMA, both headquartered nearby.
Incoming chairman John Margold, senior VP of sales for AMI Entertainment, received the association’s prestigious Joe Robbins Award for his years of service to the association. The late Robbins was an iconic figure in the American amusement industry. A founder of the AAMA in 1981, Robbins served as its first president.
AAMA’s charitable arm, the American Amusement Machine Charitable Foundation (AAMCF), also presented $5000 to the Children’s Miracle Network and Kids Enjoy Exercise Now.
