Novomatic’s Astra Games unit has released three new Category B3 slots to take advantage of the operator and player demand expected after maximum stakes were raised to £2. The government expects that as many as 3000 machines with the higher stake could be required.
Said design director Andy Dinning: “We have had time, as the changes went through the ratification process, to carefully plan how best to enhance the whole B3 experience and then to design and produce products that incorporate a whole new feel for the player.”
Added managing director Zane Mersich: “We have been focused on the B3 category, but there are changes coming for Category C also and we will strive to create the same operator/player win/win climate there when the time comes.”
The new B3 units from Astra are Jack and the Giant Jackpots, Rumpel Wildspins, and Rainbow King.
Meanwhile, Inspired Gaming Group is pointing to the Category B3 changes as a demonstration of the potential of server-based gaming. It has 14,000 such units in operation in the UK and adjusting them manually would have been a massive operation. But because they are linked to Inspired’s server-based system, Open SBG Core, games supporting the new higher stake could simply be downloaded across the estate.
