Help with licences
Published:  28 September, 2011

Hamburg startup Iconicfuture says it can help producers of online games source licensed characters and brands for use in their content. “Our platform allows for game companies to easily integrate premium virtual items into their games,” said Iconicfuture CEO Ze’ev Rozov.

“To date, licensing and managing of premium rights has been a very complicated process, which has made it impossible for most game companies to include premium rights from the world of sport and entertainment into their games. We are now enabling game producers to use their creativity, find the necessary IP rights and create an additional way to engage and generate revenue with their gamers.”

A new deal between Iconicfuture and Internet gaming firm Bigpoint, for example, will see kids’ TV character Shaun the Sheep take a role in Bigpoint’s Farmerama game.

“Shaun the Sheep has a very active online community and we are always looking for new ways to engage with them and bring new followers to the flock,” said Robert Goodchild, UK licensing manager at Aardman Animations, the sheep’s creator. “Including Shaun in Farmerama has provided us with the opportunity to reach millions of fans and develop a new revenue stream in the fast-growing online, social and mobile game sectors.”

Farmerama is said to have 30m users.
