Consumers in Jersey will be able to gamble with virtual scratch-cards at a wide range of locations, after the Channel Island’s government signed up Scientific Games subsidiary The Global Draw to provide electronic instant ticket terminals for its lottery. The networked terminals will be available at Jersey’s airport and sea port, and in pubs, hotels and supermarkets as well as existing scratch-card retailers.
Customers choose and “scratch” a card on-screen, then collect a redeemable receipt if they have won a prize. Printed scratch-cards for Jersey’s lottery, the only one in the island group, will continue to be available.
“We believe electronic instant tickets offer a new opportunity for lottery revenue growth,” said Paul Burnell, director of electronic instant tickets and lottery at The Global Draw. “They introduce a new and entertaining way to buy lottery tickets, which we believe will lead to increased support for local charities and good causes.”
