The scale of illegal gaming in China is highlighted by reports from Luzhou City in Sichuan province, which has so far this year destroyed more than 300 gambling machines. Jiangyang deputy district chief Hong Xu said the action was part of “the movement for collectively rectifying the city’s electronic amusement venues and destroying gambling machines”.
And it is only the beginning of a long-term investigation of gambling involving electronic amusements, organised by the Municipal Culture Bureau, the District Committee of the CPC Publicity Department, the District Public Security Branch and the District Administration for Industry and Commerce.
Since January this year, the Jiangyang district has discovered 21 amusement venues guilty of offering gambling and unlicensed operation.
