Innovative Leisure is describing its DigiWall as “a computer game that is played through a climbing wall interface”. Each grip for hands and feet on the climbing wall incorporates a light and a sensor so the control system can tell when it’s in use, enabling games to be devised that require more than simply reaching the top of the wall.
The unit, measuring 2.8m high and 6.4m wide in its standard form although custom designs can be produced, also has surround sound. Innovative is distributing it in the UK for the creator, DigiWall of Sweden.
Installations include Kidzworld, at the Cornish Market World in Cornwall, and Hop Farm in Kent. At Kidzworld, project management consultant Chris Webster said: “We wanted to create a venue where parents can enjoy doing activities with their children, rather than just sit and drink coffee getting bored. DigiWall delivers on this in a great interactive and fun way. It’s really good to see the parents take on their children in competitive activities on the wall.”
Innovative, which is also pointing to the wall’s low staffing and maintenance requirements, will have it on display at the Leisure Industry Week event in Birmingham later this month, and at London’s European Attractions Show the following week.
