The South Korea-based online game developer Nexon went public on 14 December in Japan with an initial public offering (IPO) worth $1.2bn, Japan’s largest IPO of the year. However, the company’s shares fell by 2.3 percent on its first day of trading.
Specialising in developing free-to-play online games, Nexon recorded a net profit of $296m in 2010. The company generates revenue mainly through the sale of virtual goods. Its popular titles KartRider and MapleStory attract 7.7m active users monthly.
