At the end of 2006, Bally Wulff started a dialogue offensive within the sector. The aim of the Berlin company is to secure "a completely new relationship with our customers" and to open itself to experiences from other leisure sectors. Since : "We do not wish to preside over a gradual decline. We want to make the connection to entertainment. And for this we need the courage to make constant changes."
As Axel Herr sees it, the sector must be moved forward into a new era. In this context, the managing director of Bally Wulff sees his company in a major role, which it is prepared to fulfil, even in the long term. "We have a plan through to 2011." In order to implement this plan, Bally Wulff wishes to create "an entirely new relationship with its customers". A beginning was made in mid December in the neighbourhood of Frankfurt/Main. The Berlin concern invited around 80 companies from the whole of Germany. Bally Wulff's intention is to change both the direction and the tempo of the sector. As Herr sees it, the sector concentrates too much on the regular player and the keen gamer. This "completely ignores the massive potential of the opportunist player". Who in turn can only be reached by the use of ideas. Herr is convinced that "The enjoyment of gaming can only be awoken by addressing the customer in surprising and creative ways". This, however, required the courage to create completely different games, systems and experiences and to be prepared for constant renewal. As was shown in the two workshops of the Bally Wulff meeting, the operators were mostly inspired by the "new ways of addressing customers" and the theme of "image improvement". Bally Wulff intends to continue the dialogue it has started between manufacturers and operators, at quarterly intervals.
