The doors to the world’s most comprehensive amusements show open on 23 January as organisers stage the 63rd edition of the annual Amusement Trades Exhibition International (ATEI) at London’s Earls Court Exhibition Centre. The show’s international flavour will be more pronounced this time round as Clarion ATE announces the highest ever proportion of international participation, with non-UK exhibitors outnumbering their domestic counterparts for the second successive year.
Spanning more than 60 product sectors, every conceivable piece of coin-op equipment will be displayed on the show floor, a substantial number of which will make their very first public appearance anywhere in the world. Clarion ATE’s Head of Marketing, John Fenna argues that such is the significance of the landmark show that ATEI provides the best opportunity of discovering the industry’s ‘next big thing’: he commented “So strong is the line-up of innovative games creators that, quite frankly, if it’s not there, it probably hasn’t been invented yet!” One of the biggest changes that visitors to ATEI 2007 will notice is the new layout, with general amusements now sited on Level 1 of Earls Court 1 and gaming products displayed on the ground floor, adjacent to ICE and ICEi. UK-based distributor of both gaming machines and amusements, Crown Direct takes the honour of having the biggest stand in ATEI – a colossal 564sqm (6,059sq.ft) located on the ground floor. Sega Amusements Europe has the second largest offering (435sqm/4,679sq.ft), making a flagship appearance over two stands on Level 1. The remaining top ten ‘big hitters’, all exhibiting downstairs, are Astra Games, Merkur Gaming, Games Warehouse, Bell-Fruit Games/Mazooma Games/QPS Interactive, Inspired Gaming Group, Games Media, Barcrest Group and Electrocoin Automatics. cont…/ 2
- 2 - Namco Europe/Brent Sales and Austria’s Funworld respectively fill second and third places in the amusements exhibitors’ size rankings on Level 1, both with stands in excess of 200sqm (2,152sq.ft). Other major companies upstairs, each displaying products across 100sqm (1,076sq.ft) or more, are Harry Levy Amusement Contractor, Premier Machine Trading, Konami Digital Entertainment, PMS International Group and Whitehouse Leisure. More companies with 100sqm-plus stands, all within the ground floor gaming sector, comprise RLMS Sales, TAB Austria, Elaut, MDM Leisure, Cotswold Micro Systems (CMS), Deith Group, Tecnoplay and JPM International. At least 49 companies from 14 countries will make their ATEI debut in 2007, 35 of which are drawn from outside the UK including eight from Italy, five from Taiwan, four from the USA, three each from Canada, Poland and Spain and two from each of China and Korea. Other first-timers hail from Germany, India, Irish Republic, Netherlands and Portugal. Clarion ATE expects the number of debutants to surpass 60 by 23 January, each bringing fresh ideas and new concepts to the London Show. The restructuring of ATEI has released additional floor space not only for new and growing exhibitors, but also means a wealth of extra services for visitors, including feature areas and new bars and restaurants across both levels, as well as further business facilities, networking/meeting points, seating areas and cloakrooms. Clarion ATE’s Head of Exhibitions, Karen Cooke commented: “The 2007 show represents the best package for international operators – whether they’re involved with amusements, gaming, or indeed both – that ATEI has ever been able to offer in its eight-decade history. I would strongly urge industry professionals who haven’t yet made up their minds on whether to attend to visit www.atei-exhibition.com, take a look at the full list of exhibitors that are investing serious resources in January’s show and realise how their invention could provide the inspiration for a prosperous 2007.”
