Manchester wins Casino Bid

Manchester is the surprise winner of the bid to site the first ever UK super casino, beating favourites Blackpool and Greenwich. The Manchester bid promised the "highest standards of social responsibility", managed by an independent Community Trust.
The casino will be built at Sportcity in the Beswick area of east Manchester creating almost three thousand jobs and generating £265m in investment. The casino will be close to the City of Manchester Stadium, now used by Manchester City FC and built for the Commonwealth Games.The super casino site will also boast a leisure complex, sports centre, restaurant, bars, nightclub and a hotel.
