The new Advice for Design guidance published by the UK’s Amusement Devices Inspection Procedures Scheme (ADIPS) received its official launch at the recent International Leisure Industry Week (LIW) exhibition.
Published just a few days prior to the show, and in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive, the new publication is a definitive technical guidance for manufacturers and designers of fairground attractions and theme/amusement park rides. Its launch at LIW, in the presence of both operators and manufacturers from the UK and overseas, was officially presided over by Lord Hunt of Kings Heath, parliamentary under secretary of state for the Department of Work and Pensions (which controls the HSE), who also provided a keynote address at the event to over 70 industry representatives.
“The new Advice for Design guidance is an integral part of the work of ADIPS and is one of many publications we shall be delivering to the industry under the ADIPS banner,” noted Chief Executive Geoff Robson. “It is intended that these guidance publications will become the industry codes of practice in support of the Health and Safety Guide 175, Safety at Amusement Parks and Fairgrounds, which is currently under revision.”
It is anticipated that the new Advice for Design will be translated into a number of languages and promoted overseas.
