In this era of downloaded music and iPods, a Nielsen SoundScan report reveals that CD sales dropped 20% in the first quarter of 2007. Sales of downloaded singles increased during the same period, though downloaded album sales declined by 10%.
Some industry experts predict that these statistics indicate basic shifting patterns within the music industry, moving away from album-based sales towards a singles-driven, digital market. SHOW NEWS The AAMA recently sponsored it annual Amusement Showcase International (ASI) convention in Las Vegas during the last week of March. There were 152 exhibitors, an increase of 18 from last year; 446 booths, including 21 first time exhibitors; total registration of 3005, a decrease from 3084 last year; buyer category increased by 10% to 1318 attendees. Rumor has it that Fun Expo may alter its scheduled to l co-locate with ASI in 2009. It currently runs alongside the annual fall AMOA show in Las Vegas. The group is trying to avoid proximity to IAAPA, which hits Vegas in November of that year.
