Merit launches ION 2008
Published:  03 December, 2007

Merit Entertainment has introduced its new ION 2008 software to the US market. UK and international versions will be available to operators early in the new year. The 2008 release is considered one of Merit’s strongest ever. New content elements have also been introduced on 30 ever-popular existing games, including Photo Hunt, Trivia Whiz and Hollywood Match.

The new games and content have led to a significant increase in earnings in the US. Systems testing the ION version of the 2008 Software have shown a 56.3% increase over 2007 systems during the same period, with Force versions showing 45% uplift. In both cases, 38% of total cashbox take has come from new or updated 2008 games. These gains are the average across all test units but newer hardware has produced even better figures. The 19” Aurora terminal has performs at double these levels. “Merit consistently writes amazing games that players love,” said Colin Higbie, director of marketing. “With the ION release in particular, we really pushed the new hardware and graphics to the limit. Players and operators will definitely see the game differences between Force and ION this year.” There are many new features which make ION more operator-friendly. These include improved graphics for operator advertisements, better wireless performance and new broadband tools that allow technical support to get inside the game to troubleshoot problems.
