“Frogger- Hop Trivia” is a new genre of SWP game as it combines the classic retro arcade game-play with the ever-popular question and answer format that encourages group game play and drives up income. Players will have to use their skill to hop Frogger safely into a ‘goal area’, these areas each have a different question category that players must tackle once inside in order to earn points. The faster Frogger gets to the goal area the more points the player wins if they answer their questions correctly. Players will benefit as they are offered more than a traditional SWP game, with enhanced graphics and comical in-game video clips whilst still having the chance to win cash. The addictive game-play is something that has been noted during the development of the game and there is a lot to be positive about as James Anderson points out, “Early feedback from the terminal companies has been that the game looks great and is an excellent transformation for the new market. Konami was an early pioneer of arcade games therefore has a wealth of great arcade classics so this is just the first of many games to come.” The game sees Konami furthering its product scope by developing products locally for the UK market with the product being developed in conjunction with Blueprint Entertainment who are already established in the SWP market. Blueprint Entertainment now has offices in the UK and the Philippines and is a leading provider of video gaming content for the UK market. Konami’s Iris Basic believes both the game and brand are right, “The great thing about thing about this game is that it is true to the original game with an added twist, so players who loved the original will recognise this and are now the same people who go to pubs where the game will be widely available”. The game will be available in locations across the UK in March 2008.
