Brunswick Bowling & Billiards and Pinnacle Entertainment Advisors have created a strategic partnership for new and existing bowling centers. Pinnacle will assist Brunswick in creating state-of-the-art game rooms and other family entertainment attractions for their venues. Company executives believe that bowling centers are evolving into the latest version of Family Entertainment Centers (FECs), with bowling as one of many activities.
This alliance and others like it will position FECs better to combat what seems like tough economic days ahead. With gas prices skyrocketing throughout the U.S., many vacation summer plans have been curtailed, delayed or canceled.
Smart FEC operators are working hard to develop new opportunities for their businesses by promoting more heavily to local customer traffic. They theorize that amusement arcades "sell" time on a "fixed inventory of attractions" with fairly stable overhead cost. By offering extra promotions, specials, value party packages and summer contests, the savvy operators can market the shorter drive times to cost-conscious families.
