Again this year, the traditional summer dinner organised by the Europer association for its members took place this July. At this year's event, as is now the custom, the annual report was presented of Europer's activities. This new report includes a letter of introduction from the Director General of Gaming in Catalonia, Merce Claramunt, in which she highlighted the success in disseminating the results of the studies of the market conducted for the 2007 yearbook "Rules of Gaming" published by the association. More than one hundred and fifty businessmen and associates attended the meal.
In his speech, Albert Solá, President of Europer, stressed the need to support the campaigns for Responsible Gaming promoted by the General Directorate of Gaming in Catalonia, whilst at the same time insisting that there must be a more determined effort to act against illegal and unregulated games, such as gaming on the Internet, which is leading to far greater addiction than the games played on traditional machines. According to Albert Solá, "Europer considers that the legal and regulated games rigorously satisfy the requirements set by the administration, but it does not however think that adequate measures are being taken to stop the new forms of gaming that fall outside the regulations and pose a social and business risk by being potentially more addictive". Likewise he demanded that private and public gaming be treated in the same way, and that the information about addiction that is being presented to the public should be more precise, in order to avoid confusion and discrimination against a totally legal and standardised sector.
